Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the staff at RMS, we would like to express our gratitude for the trust you placed in us every day to care for and teach your children. As the year comes to a close, we feel privileged to partner with parents, guardians and families in helping students learn and grow throughout the year. As I reflect on my first year as principal at Roland Michener School, I am grateful to be a part of a caring school community that prioritizes student learning and well-being each and every day.

Thursday, June 27 is the last day of school before re-opening in August. If you need to speak with teachers or staff, appeal student report card marks, or have forgotten items to pick up, the office and teachers will be available on Friday, June 28 between 9:00am and 12:00pm. The office will then be closed for the summer and will re-open on Monday, August 26 at 9:00am. Please be aware that the school phones and email will not be checked over the summer. In the case of an urgent situation, please feel free to email me (my email will be checked periodically but not daily), or call the main CBE (downtown) phone line at 403-817-4000

Each year, we are sad to say goodbye to some staff, and excited to welcome others. Mr. Marshall and Ms. Kerr will both be moving on to new positions at different schools next year. We appreciate their time at RMS and wish them all the best in their new adventures. We are happy to welcome Ms. Megan Ozegovic (Assistant Principal), Ms. Natasha Valz (Learning Leader/Teacher), Ms. Corinne Ashbaugh (Learning Leader/Teacher), Ms. Mandeep Tung (Teacher), and Ms. Neha Vaidya (Lunchroom Supervisor). We will have other staff to introduce in August, once all hiring has been completed.

To all of our students and families who are moving on to new schools and new adventures, we will miss you and we wish you all the best – we will miss you!

As Elder Saa'kokoto says, this is a time to express our gratitude for what summer brings, and for new opportunities. We are incredibly grateful for each of you and this year at Roland Michener, and excited about all the new opportunities the next year will bring.

Have a wonderful and restful summer and we look forward to seeing you again in August!

All the Best,

Terrie
