As we head into the Thanksgiving long weekend, we want to wish all of our students and families a wonderful long weekend. We are grateful to be able to be part of such a supportive and caring community.

Thanksgiving Long Weekend

A friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday for the Thanksgiving holiday. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, October 13!

Welcome to Our New RMS Teachers

We are excited to welcome two new teachers to the RMS team! Mr. Anderson is teaching Grade 5/6 and Ms. Sandhu is teaching Physical Education and Wellness. We are thrilled to have them join our school community!

Dressing for the Weather

Cooler temperatures are expected next week! Please ensure students come to school dressed for the changing weather, including a warm jacket, and appropriate footwear. Students go outside during morning recess and lunch recess so dressing in warm clothes will help keep them comfortable and ready to enjoy their time outside.

Halloween is Approaching

Halloween is just around the corner, and we are looking forward to celebrating it at RMS on October 30. As you begin planning costumes, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

- Costumes should be comfortable and allow students to participate safely in classroom activities.

- Toy weapons, sharp accessories, and costumes that could be frightening or disruptive to others are not permitted.

- Masks and face coverings cannot interfere with students' vision or ability to communicate and participate in learning.

- Please keep costumes inclusive, respectful, and appropriate for a school setting.

Alien In-Line Skating is Coming Back to RMS

School Council is generously funding Alien In-Line Skating again this year! The program will begin in early November! Students will have several in-line skating sessions where they are sure to have a lot of fun while continuing to develop their skating skills.

School Council is hosting a Family In-Line Skate Night on November 5. Several parent volunteers are needed to help make the evening a success. If you are interested in helping during the Family In-Line Skate Night, please email School Council at rmscouncil@hotmail.com.

Class Photos and Retake Day

Class photos and retakes are scheduled for October 29. Students getting individual photo retakes need to bring their original proof sheet to retakes.

Thank-you to School Council

A huge thank-you to our dedicated School Council team! School Council has helped us create welcoming outdoor spaces for our students and community. Council’s support of both the asphalt project (approximately $72,000) and the outdoor rock circle (approximately $18,000) has made a significant difference in our outdoor space. The asphalt project helps improve accessibility for our students and community members, ensuring that our outdoor spaces are more inclusive and accessible to all. The rock circle provides a welcoming space for outdoor learning, gathering, and building connections.

We are incredibly grateful for your generosity, commitment, and partnership in helping us create spaces and experiences that benefit our students and the broader school community.

School Council is always looking for new members to support the important work they do. Please contact School Council at rmscouncil@hotmail.com if you are interested in joining.

Fee Waiver Support

Fee Waiver support will be available again in the new year for families who would benefit from assistance with applying for school fee waivers. More information about scheduling an appointment with the fee waiver team will be shared closer to the date.
