As we enter October, we want to thank our families for their continued support and engagement. It was wonderful connecting with so many families at Meet the Teacher. Thank you to all who attended! For those unable to attend, we encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher with any concerns or questions.

This month, we are excited for our school community to participate in the Walk for Wenjack, have our Grade 6 students experience outdoor school at Tim Horton Children’s Ranch, and have our grade 1 and 2 classes go on their first field trip of the year to the National Music Centre. We are also looking forward to celebrating Halloween with fun and safe activities.

Walk for Wenjack

As part of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, the Roland Michener School community will be participating in the Walk for Wenjack on October 22. This important event is a journey of reflection and learning, inspired by the story of Chanie Wenjack, a young boy who tragically lost his life escaping a residential school. By walking together, we honour Indigenous history, acknowledge the lasting impact of residential schools, and commit to building a future rooted in awareness and respect. Through this walk, we aim to foster deeper understanding and support ongoing learning within our school community.

Tim Horton Children’s Ranch

We are excited for RMS grade 6 students to participate in outdoor school at Tim Horton Children’s Ranch, which is located in Kananaskis. Grade 6 students will spend three days and two nights at the ranch. While there, they will have the opportunity to participate in activities including horseback riding, archery, nature walks, outdoor games, arts and crafts, cooperative games, indoor climbing, and a low ropes course. Students will also participate in nature-based activities that allow them a deeper connection to nature and the land.

Halloween at RMS

Halloween at Roland Michener School is always a fun and exciting time for our students. This year, we will celebrate with a range of activities, including classroom-based festivities. Students are encouraged to wear costumes that are creative, fun, and respectful of our diverse community. Please ensure costumes are schoolappropriate and avoid masks, weapons, or props that may disrupt learning or safety. We look forward to seeing the students' creativity and celebrating together in a positive, inclusive environment! More information about Halloween celebrations will be shared closer to the date.
