We hope all our families enjoyed a joyful and relaxing Thanksgiving filled with warmth and togetherness. This time of year invites us to pause and reflect on the beauty of the season and the blessings in our lives.

Student Surveys

RMS students participated in the OURSchool Survey and the CBE K-3 Wellness and Academic Survey. These surveys help us to understand students’ experiences at school, including their sense of belonging, well-being, and engagement in learning. Survey data provides valuable insights that help us to better support and meet the needs of our students.

City of Calgary Afterschool Program

The City of Calgary will be offering afterschool programming for students in grades 4 to 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 2:40pm to 4:40pm in the school gym. Due to limited space in the program, a lottery will be used to determine the students who will participate. Detailed information about the program has been sent home with students.

School Council Meetings

The next School Council meeting will be held on November 5 at 6:00pm in the school library. These meetings are a great opportunity for parents and guardians to hear about what’s happening at the school, share their ideas, and ask questions. At the November meeting, the grade 5/6 team will be sharing information about the exciting learning happening in grades 5 and 6. All RMS families are encouraged to attend School Council Meetings each month.

Halloween at RMS

Halloween at Roland Michener School is always a fun and exciting time for our students. This year, we will celebrate with a range of activities, including classroom-based festivities. Students are encouraged to wear costumes that are creative, fun, and respectful of our diverse community. Please ensure costumes are schoolappropriate and avoid masks, weapons, or props that may disrupt learning or safety. We look forward to seeing the students' creativity and celebrating together in a positive, inclusive environment! More information about Halloween celebrations will be shared closer to the date.

Weather Preparedness

As the weather starts to cool down, please ensure that your child comes to school dressed warmly. We will continue to have outdoor recess and go outside to learn on the land so it is important that students are prepared for the chilly temperatures.
