Conferences
This week, we invite parents/guardians to join their child’s teacher for conferences on Thursday, March 20th or Friday, March 21st. Due to the CUPE strike, conferences will be held ONLINE. Conferences provide a valuable opportunity to celebrate your child's achievements, gain insight into their learning journey, and collaborate on the next steps for growth. Your involvement is essential to your child’s success. To schedule a conference, please book through your MyCBE account. Bookings close on Wednesday, March 19th at 11:59pm.
Conference Dates and Times:
Thursday March 20, 2025 between 4:00pm and 7:00pm
Friday March 21, 2025 between 8:00am and 11:30am
CUPE Strike
On Feb. 19, 2025, CUPE Local 40 served 72-hour strike notice to the CBE. This means that the union withdrew services on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025.
During strike action, CBE is prioritizing in-person learning. We are committed to supporting student learning and well-being while maintaining safe and welcoming school environments for students, staff and families.
During strike action, all CBE schools and buildings will remain open, and classes will continue. However, a strike will have an impact on schools and operations.
For updated information on strike action, please refer to: labour action
Spring Equinox
As we welcome the Spring Equinox on March 20th, we recognize this special time of balance and renewal. The equinox marks the point when day and night are nearly equal in length, signalling the official start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Spring Equinox represents new beginnings, growth, and connection to nature. As the days grow longer and the earth awakens, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the changes around us and embrace the season of renewal. At RMS, students will be observing the signs of spring as they learn about and appreciate the beauty of the natural world.
RMS Playground
Did you know... in the next three years, the Roland Michener School playground will need to be replaced due to wear and tear? Have questions? Want to join the playground committee? Email: rmsplayground@outlook.com
Student Surveys
Students in grades 4, 5, and 6 are completing the CBE Student Survey and the Assurance Survey. These surveys provide valuable insights into students’ learning experiences at RMS. Their feedback helps guide RMS’s ongoing development and improvement. Surveys help to ensure that student voices are heard and considered in school decision-making.
Upcoming Field Trips
After spring break, many classes will be heading out of RMS to engage in off-site learning activities. These activities provide students with valuable hands-on opportunities to connect their learning to the world around them. Whether exploring nature or sites in Calgary, these trips enrich student learning. To ensure these experiences are safe and successful, we rely on the support of parent/guardian volunteers. Volunteers need current police clearance to be able to supervise. If you do not have a current police check and are interested in volunteering, more info can be found at: volunteerCBEsignalling
More details about specific trips and volunteer opportunities will be shared by your child's teacher. Thank you for your continued support in making these learning experiences possible for RMS students!
