We hope everyone had a restful and joyful winter break. We have had a wonderful two weeks back in class,

and it has been great to see students settling into routines and engaging so positively in their learning.

Steve Harmer – Motivational Magic

A huge thank-you to all the families who joined us for Steve Harmer’s Motivational Magic Show on Thursday

evening! We loved seeing our school community come together for an uplifting and entertaining night.

A special thank-you goes out to our School Council and Parent Association for generously funding this event

for our school community. Your continued support helps us create memorable experiences for our students

School Council and Parent Society Annual General Meetings

All parents and guardians are invited to Roland Michener School Council and Parent Society Annual General

Meetings on Thursday, January 22 at 6:00pm in the RMS Library.

Be Brave Hitman Hockey Game

RMS students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 will be attending the Be Brave Hitman hockey game on Tuesday,

February 24. This annual event brings students together from across Calgary to promote anti-bullying and the

importance of kindness, courage, and standing up for one another.

We are looking for parent/guardian volunteers to join us on this field trip. Volunteers will help supervise

students on the bus as well as supervise groups of students during the event. If you are available and

interested in volunteering, please contact Megan Ozegovic at mcozegovic@cbe.ab.ca. All volunteers must

have current police clearance.

Fee Waiver Support

We are committed to ensuring that every student can participate fully in all school activities, regardless of

financial circumstances. If you are experiencing difficulty paying school fees, fee waivers are available to

support you. Central fees include lunch supervision, transportation, and student supplies.

To apply for a central fee waiver, please submit your application through your MyCBE account. For

information about eligibility and required documentation, please visit our CBE website.

We will have members of the Fee Waiver team at RMS on the morning of Thursday, February 19 from 8:15am

– 11:00am to help parents and guardians apply for central fee waivers. Please connect with Megan Ozegovic

at mcozegovic@cbe.ab.ca to book an appointment with the team.

Report Cards and IPPs

Report Cards and IPPs will be available for families on February 24. Please take time to review your child’s

progress, and reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s

learning in more detail. Report Cards must be access through your MyCBE account and IPPs will be sent home

with students.

A MyCBE account allows parents and guardians to access student information; including report cards,

assignments and grades, and attendance. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal directly

instead of using the PowerSchool App.

Attendance

Regular attendance at school fosters students' confidence in themselves as learners and enhances their role

as active participants and valuable contributors in their school community. Even in early grades, regular

attendance lays the foundation for students' academic success, positioning them for high school completion

and future career opportunities.

Kindergarten Registration – Now Open

If you have a child starting Kindergarten next year, registration is now open. Registration is online through
