We hope you had a restful and enjoyable long weekend! As we return to school this week, we are excited to continue celebrating Kindness Month at RMS. This is a wonderful time to reflect on how we can make our school community even more caring and supportive. We also have lots of fun activities happening for students! Alien In-Line Skating starts this week and many extra-curricular school clubs are taking place at lunch and after school. These special activities provide students with opportunities to engage in various new experiences and develop their unique interests.

Important Update

On Feb. 19, 2025, CUPE Local 40 served 72-hour strike notice to the CBE. This means that the union will withdraw services beginning Monday, Feb. 24, 2025.

During strike action, CBE is prioritizing in-person learning. We are committed to supporting student learning and well-being while maintaining safe and welcoming school environments for students, staff and families.

During strike action, all CBE schools and buildings will remain open, and classes will continue. However, a strike will have an impact on schools and operations.

For updated information on strike action, please refer to: labour action

After School Clubs

Due to the CUPE Local 40 strike action, public rentals of CBE school spaces have been cancelled. This includes City of Calgary School Connections YYC permits. The City of Calgary After School Club operating Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at RMS has been cancelled until further notice.

 Pink Shirt Day (February 26)

In response to a new Grade 9 student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt, two Nova Scotia high school students took a stand against bullying by distributing pink shirts to all the boys in their school to wear. This act of kindness has grown into a symbol against bullying in schools across the globe. On Wednesday, February 26, RMS students are encouraged to wear a pink shirt to help spread kindness and a sense of belonging!

Alien In-Line Skating

Students will be learning to in-line skate from February 18 – 26. Alien In-Line Skating is a local company dedicated to teaching students to in-line skate through safe and fun skating sessions. Students are encouraged to bring a helmet (bike) to wear during the sessions. Thank-you to RMS School Council for funding this activity for our students!

Please note that the family in-line skating session has been cancelled.
